Scotland 2010
A Walk Across a Country
Past stone walls, green pastures, and rocky coastlines
Amidst mist, rain, and fog
And with pubs!

Why:

In the Fall of 2010 I wanted to commemorate my Fall of 2000 journey across America, a foot powered coast-to-coast, diagonal trek across a country. It seemed appropriate to do that via another coast-to-coast diagonal trek across a country, but I wanted it to be easier and simpler. Walking is easier and simpler than bicycling, especially with security hassles, so if I was going to walk, I'd have to find a smaller country.

I always wanted to see Scotland because of its land and sea, its history, its people, and its whisky. I finally found a slice of time, thanks to friends who looked over my art and business for a short while, and fairly spontaneously booked a trip.

The following pages are pieced from my incomplete notes. I was on vacation. I was not trying to research a book or compile a photo exhibit, but the writer and photographer in me couldn't walk by without ignoring the experience, so I ended up with enough material for at least a web site.

I hope this site is enjoyable, and possibly useful; and who knows, it might become a book someday. That’s how Just Keep Pedaling was born.
