After much consternation and consideration, I’ve decided to build a site that will probably tick people off.
A well-designed site has lots of useful links, tons of rich content, and profitable ads.
The problem is that such a site is contrary to the whole point of the book.
Dreaming and living are the basis of art and philosophy. So let’s see. I guess I could either add links to every school of thought, religion, art form, and lifestyle imaginable. Or, I could keep it simple and just give you a few links that helped me answer some basic questions. I’ll help you with the first stepping stones. The rest of the journey is yours, and will be more valuable because you set the course.
Investing, now there’s the profitable part of a site. Lots of ads. Lots of links to brokers, analysts, official sites, unofficial sites, etc. But I realized that I use very few. Why should I shove an overwhelming list at you when my entire point is to keep it simple? I’ve included the few that I use, plus some of the official ones. You’ll find more, many more. And there is the trap. The investment world can swallow up crowds of investors. You can end up spending your life wading through arcane accounting procedures or trying to unravel conspiracy theories. Learn enough to help you make decisions and only dive into the rest if it doesn’t eat up your life. Start with my list, build your own, and get back to living.
That’s why I am going to keep this site simple and less exploitive than some recommend. Dream. Invest. Live. It is a book. It is a part of my life. But it is not my entire life. Just like I don’t think you should devote your life to investing, I shouldn’t devote my life to web site optimization. The idea is for each of us to live our dream. My dream has many aspects and this web site is only one room in a ship that carries me through my life. Visit this resource and then move on along your path. Come back if you need a hand. If you need more than that, head over to the blog where there are comments from me, or jump out to the discussion boards where you can converse with similar souls.
I’m glad that you’re heading out and making progress. Good luck - to all of us.
